Take the elevator up to the second floor! \nWhy: The event is free and open to the public. Coffee and donuts are compliments of the International Space Hall of Fame Foundation. \nThe next Launch Pad Lecture will be held on Friday\, October 6. The speaker will be Dr. Steven Shepard\, Senior R&D Program Manager for Power and Propulsion\, Directed Energy at Lockheed Martin. Dr. Shepard’s topic will be on propulsion. He will be appearing via Zoom.to the \nThe New Mexico Museum of Space History in Alamogordo is a division of the New Mexico Department of Cultural Affairs. A Smithsonian Affiliate\, the museum showcases the significant role New Mexico has played in the development of the U.S. Space Program and features the International Space Hall of Fame\, and New Horizons Dome Theater.

SUMMARY:9.11 Commemoration Ceremony & Memorial Stair Climb at the NM Museum of Space History
DESCRIPTION:The New Mexico Museum of Space History is honored to host the community’s annual 9.11 Memorial Stair Climb in conjunction with the City of Alamogordo Fire Department and area first responders. Teams of up to four participants climb the equivalent of the 110 stories of the World Trade Center in tribute to the fallen heroes of Sept. 11. Firefighters and first responders from across the region are expected to participate. The general public is invited to join the stair climb. One complete circuit – the equivalent of the 110 stories of the World Trade Center – is approximately 11 and a half trips up the stairs of the museum\, across the fifth floor\, and then down the stairs on the other side. Medical personnel will be onsite during the event.
