DESCRIPTION:Museum Members Get Front Row Seats!\nAlamogordo\, New Mexico – The International Space Hall of Fame Foundation is pleased to announce that the City of Alamogordo’s July 4th fireworks show returns to the New Mexico Museum of Space History grounds\, celebrating the 250th anniversary of the United States and kicking off the 50th anniversary of the museum. \n“In 1978\, city leaders and Museum of Space History founders started the tradition of hosting the city’s annual July 4th fireworks show on the grounds of the museum and we are delighted that this long-standing partnership continues in 2026\,” said ISHFF President Johnny Powell. “The City’s fireworks show for America’s 250th shows their commitment to our community and to celebrating our country’s anniversary\,” he added. \nThe museum grounds provide a prime viewing location for the show and it is expected to be visible throughout the city. Museum members have the exclusive opportunity of viewing the fireworks from the grounds of the museum and tailgating is back! As an added bonus\, the Museum of Space History will be open that evening from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm\, allowing members to see new exhibits and those that will be leaving soon. \nMuseum members simply show their membership card at the gate and are granted access to the grounds. Members can bring as many guests as fit in their car. Each vehicle will get two parking spaces\, one for the car and one for the tailgate. Charcoal or woodfired grills are not allowed for safety reasons. Pets\, other than service animals\, are not allowed. Alcohol is not allowed. The gates will open at 6:00 pm for members\, with onsite registration available. Renewing or purchasing a membership is as easy as logging on to www.spacehalloffame.org or visiting the Space Hall of Fame gift shop inside the museum. \nChoreographed music for the show will be provided by Burt Broadcasting on KZZX 105.3 FM. Burt Broadcasting has been broadcasting music for the show for more than 25 years. \nAs in past years\, Space Hall of Fame Foundation staff will handle entry to the grounds at the bottom of Highway 2001. The gates to the grounds will open for entry at 6:00 pm and close at 8:00 pm. Highway 2001 will be closed shortly after that as preparations for the evening’s program are finished. \nThe International Space Hall of Fame Foundation (ISHFF) is a 501(c)3\, non-profit corporation whose purpose is to receive and administer funds for scientific\, educational\, and charitable purposes including providing philanthropic support to the New Mexico Museum of Space History and its programs. The highlight of the gala will be the induction of a new class into the International Space Hall of Fame. \n\nChosen from a field of 45 distinguished nominees submitted nationwide\, this year’s inductees exemplify extraordinary achievements in space science and exploration. Honorees include the pioneering women of the Mercury 13\, Swiss astrophysicist Michel Mayor\, NASA astronauts Senator Mark Kelly and his twin brother Scott Kelly\, NASA mathematician Creola Katherine Johnson\, and Dolores “Dee” O’Hara\, the first nurse to care for America’s astronauts. \n\nThe museum first opened its doors in 1976 as the International Space Hall of Fame\, dedicated to recognizing the imagination\, achievements\, and determination of those who have advanced humanity’s understanding of the universe and expanded the boundaries of space exploration.
