SUMMARY:"From Apollo to Artemis" Special Evening Event Saturday\, July 18th
DESCRIPTION:Alamogordo\, NM — The New Mexico Museum of Space History will host From Apollo to Artemis\, a special ticketed evening event for adults on July 18 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.\, featuring hands-on rocket building\, a themed presentation\, and a rocket launch activity. Presented in collaboration with the Atomic Aggies of New Mexico State University\, the event will invite guests to explore the connection between the Apollo era and today’s Artemis missions through a guided rocketry experience. \nRocket building gives guests a hands-on way to connect with the engineering principles that supported Apollo’s Moon missions and continue to shape Artemis exploration today. Working alongside the Atomic Aggies\, a student team that designs\, builds\, and launches high-powered competition rockets\, participants will see how modern rocketry carries forward the same spirit of innovation\, experimentation\, and exploration. This collaboration creates a clear link between historic lunar achievement\, today’s return to the Moon\, and the next generation of engineers and explorers. \nDuring the evening\, participants will build their own rockets\, learn basic principles of rocket design\, and enjoy a presentation by the Atomic Aggies connected to the theme of past and present exploration. The evening will conclude with an outdoor rocket launch activity\, weather permitting. \nEvent schedule \n\n5:30 p.m. – Check-in\, welcome\, and event introduction.\n5:40 p.m. – Rocket-building activity begins.\n6:10–6:40 p.m. – Presentation in collaboration with the Atomic Aggies.\n6:40–7:10 p.m. – Final rocket assembly and launch preparation.\nAround 7:10 p.m. – Outdoor rocket launch activity\, weather permitting.\n7:30 p.m. – Event concludes.\n\nThis adults-only event is ticketed\, and advance registration is recommended due to limited capacity.
