SUMMARY:Astronomy League December Star Party
DESCRIPTION:What: The Museum of Space History’s Astronomy League has lots going on in December! \nOn Saturday\, December 9th\, bring the family up to the museum for a free public star party! It starts at 6:00 pm and will be held in the upper parking lot near the new observatory. Astronomy League members will point out Saturn\, Jupiter\, and other wonders of the early winter night sky. Selected objects will be shown live on large monitors to make viewing easier for children and the seeing impaired. \nThe following Thursday\, December 14\, League members will be assisting the rangers at White Sands National Park with a private star party. \nWhy: Because it’s fun to star gaze! Bring yourself and your family! If you have an interest in astronomy or are a telescope owner\, consider joining the museum’s Astronomy League. New members are always welcome\, membership forms will be available at the star party. League membership is free. \nThe next meeting of the Astronomy League will be Thursday\, January 11\, 2024. \nAbout the New Mexico Museum of Space History: www.nmspacemuseum.org \nThe New Mexico Museum of Space History in Alamogordo is a division of the New Mexico Department of Cultural Affairs. A Smithsonian Affiliate\, the museum showcases the significant role New Mexico has played in the development of the U.S. Space Program and features the International Space Hall of Fame and New Horizons Dome Theater. \n3198 State Route 2001 | Alamogordo\, NM 88310\, (575) 437-2840 for more information or visit the website at www.nmspacemuseum.org.
