Event: Climb the Cube! 9/11 Remembrance Commemoration Ceremony

Alamogordo’s New Mexico Museum of Space History is proud to host the upcoming 9/11 memorial Climb the Cube! event sponsored by the Alamogordo Fire Department. The event will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2024, and commemorates the 343 firefighters, 60 police officers, 8 emergency medical technicians, and numerous other first responders, including K9 units lost on September 11, 2001.
Participants will climb the equivalent of 110 stories, symbolizing the ascent made by first responders in the World Trade Center towers. This event not only honors the fallen but also raises funds to support programs assisting the families of those who have lost their lives in the line of duty.

The stair climb is open to all individuals, including first responders, civilians, and even K9 companions, reflecting the diverse group of heroes we honor. It is not a competitive race but a solemn tribute to bravery and sacrifice.
“This event is a powerful way to remember and honor the courage of all first responders who lost their lives on 9/11,” said April James, of the New Mexico Museum of Space History. “We’re especially proud to include recognition of the K9 units, whose contributions are often overlooked but were crucial in search and rescue efforts.”
The event will feature special tributes to different groups of first responders, including firefighters, police officers, and EMTs.
The Museum of Space History is open from 10 am to 5 pm Saturday the 14th and will be free to first responders and their families.
