NM Museum of Space History Welcomes Congressional Broadband Tour

Congressional Broadband Tour

On August 13, we had the honor of hosting the Foundation for Rural Service (FRS) Congressional Broadband Tour in New Mexico. This memorable event brought together policymakers, industry leaders, and local representatives to emphasize the need for broadband expansion in rural communities.

Special thanks to Lorna Gilmore, Policy Manager at NCTA – The Internet & Television Association, and Gabriela Eaton of Tularosa Communications for arranging a meaningful visit to the New Mexico Museum of Space History. Their efforts gave visiting legislators and broadband leaders a chance to experience one of Alamogordo’s most remarkable landmarks while engaging in meaningful conversations about rural connectivity.

Among the community leaders welcoming the tour was Alamogordo Mayor Susan Payne, who joined us to extend a warm greeting to our distinguished guests. Gabriela Eaton, Marketing Manager at Tularosa Communications, reflected on the experience:

“Mike Shinabery, Education Director, gave us a fascinating tour—including a jaw-dropping video of the thousands of satellites orbiting Earth.”

We were proud to showcase the New Mexico Museum of Space History to such an influential group and highlight one of Alamogordo’s true gems.
