New Horizons Theater to Close Temporarily

Museum of Space History Remains Open

(Alamogordo, New Mexico) – The Tombaugh Education Building and New Horizons Dome Theater at the New Mexico Museum of Space History will be closed beginning Monday, March 16, 2020, until further notice. “The safety and health of our guests is of the utmost importance to us and we felt it was in their best interest that the theater be temporarily closed during this health emergency,” said Museum Executive Director Chris Orwoll. Educator and Theater staff will telecommute during this time.

The New Mexico Museum of Space History, following the lead of the NM Department of Cultural Affairs and the recommendations of the Governor, is committed to making sure that its visitors and staff are in a safe, healthy environment. To that end, the museum has instituted several policies including an increased schedule of disinfection for “high-touch” areas, removal or closure of some interactive exhibits, and cancellation of some public events such as the museum’s April 4th Trinity Site Motor Coach Tour, regular meetings and lectures, and outreach functions. The museum remains open and on its regular schedule at this time.

Visitors are encouraged to visit the museum’s website or facebook page for up to date information.
