Launch Pad Lecture: When Hollywood Gets It Wrong

When Hollywood Gets It Wrong: Space Movie Bloopers

Free Launch Pad Lecture Friday May 2

(Alamogordo, New Mexico) - Just because you see it on the big movie screen, doesn’t mean you’re seeing the cold hard facts of space exploration. Join New Mexico Museum of Space History Education Director Dave Dooling and Education Specialist Michael Shinabery for this Friday’s Launch Pad Lecture When Hollywood Gets It Wrong: Space Movie Bloopers. As the daring duo explore the truth, or lack thereof, behind movie magic in space, they’ll also be presenting the first ever “Bronze Banana Peel Award” for the worst space movie bloopers ever.

The Launch Pad Lecture is free to the public and starts at 9:00 am on the first floor of the museum. Coffee and donuts are compliments of the International Space Hall of Fame Foundation. The next lecture will be on Friday, June 6, and the topic will be Buck Rogers is Alive and Well! Today’s Commercial Space Industry.

The New Mexico Museum of Space History is a division of the NM Department of Cultural Affairs. For more information, call 575-437-2840 or toll free 1-877-333-6589, visit the website at www.nmspacemuseum.org.
