Museum Kicks Off Holiday Food Drive

Theater Offers Free Multimedia Show

(Alamogordo, New Mexico) - The New Mexico Museum of Space History is holding a holiday canned food drive through November 23. As part of that, the Clyde W. Tombaugh IMAX Theater will offer free admission to the multi-media show “9 Planets and Counting” at 1:00 on Saturday November 9, 16, and 23, for a donation of three cans of food or other non-perishable food items.

Museum Executive Director Chris Orwoll said, “This is the season for giving and we look at this holiday food drive as an opportunity to give back to our community in more ways than one. For the next three Saturdays, a simple donation of non-perishable food gets you in to see our very popular multi-media show. What an excellent way to support food banks and see a good show at the same time!”

“9 Planets and Counting” continues the debate over what defines a planet and features a tour of the solar system utilizing spectacular photographs, and exciting new discoveries beyond Pluto. The Holiday Food Drive showing at 1:00 on Saturday November 9 and 16 is on a first come, first served basis.

For those who would just like to donate to the food drive, a collection box is located in the lobby of the main museum building.
